Little bird (08.04.26)

There’s a little bird

I sing to her

and she loves me

                    there’s a little bird

                    I sing to her

                    each morning

o little bird,

                   for years and years

                                                  I sang.

did you hear my

voice each morning?

                                 did you give

                                      my love away

stay, little bird

stay, little bird

                 stay with me

                 until the deepest

                 evening, and into

                 the darkest night.

o little bird,

                 stay little bird,

                                       stay.

Untitled

I know a little bird

she came up to me, a little god

with a blue cast

  with a black collar

      with a silver leash

she stayed through the morning

and all through the day into the dark evening

and sang to me about you.

Untitled

Do you look out the

  window

and listen to the way my little chirps

  reach you?

my whistles sing with the song birds each morning,

my love is carried on wings

     as messengers

 know where

our love is

for miles and miles.

Untitled

She caws at nigh-midnight,

wings blue as night, bright as moonlight —

 she knows

    things

        old

 and great

 and cold

 and waitful in the eve,

   watchful in the day,

climbing up from the forest floor to Yggdrasil

Little wing

Her little wing

 must think

it queer, the strange cat —

  when she could be

      walking through the clouds

zebras and dragonflies

     yet she comes to me

  my ears perked

   for her little chirps

    and her little loving feet

Untitled

Sunshine

   on my shoulders,

sunshine on the beating wings

I hear your fluttering in my ear

        your flax-woven nest

as beautiful

  and small

as I become something

 smaller and sweeter
